Here We Go! - artoberVA Week 1

artoberVA 2019 is still a few days away but we just can’t wait anymore. We absolutely have to tell you what’s coming up during the first week of artoberVA so you can share in our excitement.

Liz Thomson, AKA I Heart Vegetables, is the first Celebrity Pick of 2019! Here’s what’s happening this week that she’s excited for:

  • 10/3: Poetry and Jazz Tasting at C’est le Vin – “It's hard not to feel inspired when you're hearing poetry from local writers and enjoying a little jazz with a glass of wine.”

  • 10/4: First Fridays Art Walk at the Richmond Arts District – “First Fridays Art Walk has something for everyone! Grab dinner at your favorite restaurant in the Arts District, pop into a gallery, listen to live music, or just see where the night takes you!”

  • 10/6: Classical Incarnations at The Hof – “It's not every day you can enjoy live classical music and a giant soft pretzel at the same time. The Hof is such a great venue, it's the perfect spot to kick back, relax, and listen to a live performance!”

Join us on Friday at the Quirk Hotel for the official artoberVA Kick-Off! Quirk is offering a specialty artoberVA cocktail, and a portion of all proceeds from the front bar will be donated to CultureWorks. The festivities begin at 6 PM!

This year we are thrilled to collaborate with Bonfire to offer limited edition artoberVA t-shirts. The three designs were created by Richmond artists Emily Herr, WingChow, and Mickael Broth and will be for sale online and at select events during artoberVA. The original artwork that inspired each design will be available during social media giveaways throughout the month, so make sure you’re following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! All of the proceeds will be donated to CultureWorks and other nonprofits that are close to the hearts of the artists.

Click on each shirt to place your order and to learn more about the artist and their design.

Finally, we want to show off this stop motion video created by Nancy Dufrenne for Dolls on a Wall – so creative! It’s just the thing we needed to get ready for artoberVA!
