artoberVA is BACK!

artoberVA is BACK and it’s time to DIG IN!

CultureWorks is excited to announce the third annual artoberVA, a celebration of arts & culture in Richmond and the Tri-Cities area.  artoberVA runs from October 1 – October 31, 2018.

This year artoberVA will continue to dig in to the belief that arts and culture should be approachable and accessible to everyone.  You can expect to see lots of events and experiences - many accessible near bus routes - as well as artists and organizations bringing popups and collaborative experiences directly to many neighborhoods.  All of this fits into the four main focus areas for artoberVA: art in new and unexpected places, pop ups, collaborations, and family friendly experiences. Plan your experiences now at our interactive calendar.

The celebrity picks introduced in 2017 were so popular CultureWorks is bringing them back!  Be on the lookout for special arts and culture picks this October from:

  • Ajay Brewer - Owner, Brewer’s Cafe
  • Juan Conde - Anchor/Reporter, 8News & WRIC-TV
  • Christina Dick - Marketing Consultant & Founder, TFB Agency
  • Emily Herr – Muralist & Owner, HerrSuite

“We are really excited for artoberVA 2018 and continuing our focus of making all of the wonderful artists and arts and culture organizations and experiences in the Richmond and Tri-Cities area more accessible to everyone. The family friendly experiences, pop-ups, and collaborations will be found in some of the region’s favorite spots as well as in new and unexpected places. Our hope is that everyone in the Richmond and Tri-Cities area has an opportunity to experience and express their culture through the arts to maximize the impact of arts and culture in our community. CultureWorks believes arts and culture have the power to teach and inspire, to uplift and heal, to empower and liberate, to transform a community. artoberVA is an opportunity to dig in and celebrate one of the keys to making our region a great place to live, work, and play.”  - Scott Garka, President, CultureWorks
