Celebrity Picks October 8-14
Emily Herr is a Richmond native who creates custom hand-painted murals at home and on the road under the name HerrSuite. She’s been painting professionally for 10 years, specializing in careful context-based design with bright imagery. Painting murals is an excuse for Emily to explore new settings for illustrative visual art, work closely with an ever-changing variety of people, and push her physical and creative limits. As part of her creative practice she travels as often as possible to seek new landscapes and visual paradigms, from Chilé to Iceland, from Qatar to California. Self-employed since graduation from VCU, she pursues continuing education in the form of workshops across the US and abroad, as well as initiating ambitious projects that guide the shape of her client work - most recently designing and building a mobile artist studio, and then launching a traveling mural project called “Girls! Girls! Girls!” to better represent women in public art.
Emily’s artoberVA picks are

Nutasha is a mascot for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, working alongside Nutzy in defending FUNN at The Diamond. Calling the forest her home, Nutasha was the fastest of the squirrels, winning first every race, yet the kindest of squirrels, everyone's favorite friendly face. She kept the FUNN in the forest as the nights turned to day, leading games and songs for the whole group to play. Nutzy asked her to be his superhero sidekick in 2016, and she’s been bringing FUNN to the Diamond ever since!
