artoberVA 2020 Recap!

artoberVA 2020 reminded us arts and culture LIVE ON!

During artoberVA 2020, we engaged our region and drove collaboration among artists, organizations, and businesses in the area to shine a light on unique arts and cultural experiences. In its fifth year, artoberVA events were mostly virtual as our region — and the rest of the world — adapted to the current climate.

While artoberVA looked different this year, we continued building momentum, safely and responsibly, while protecting everyone’s health. The overarching goals of artoberVA remained the same:

  • to increase awareness of and participation in our region's abundant arts and culture community

  • to highlight events from every genre, and

  • to spotlight a variety of diverse organizations and artists.

Overall for Richmond and the Tri-Cities, artoberVA 2020 thrived. This year, the Arts & Culture Calendar featured 806 total experiences and 156 unique events from every art and culture genre during the month of October and over 74 participating organizations and artists!

Despite the challenges of the year, artoberVA continued to be a positive and much-needed celebration of arts and culture in the community! We look forward to 2021 when we can hopefully all safely gather together to experience artoberVA in person again.
