artoberVA starts off right with signature arts and culture events, engaging diverse audiences.

With the latest installment of First Fridays on October 5th, the RVA Arts & Cultural District will once again come alive with art, music, culture, history and more - much of which is free of charge.  It's a great opportunity to celebrate our creative community, and engage with new arts and culture experiences. Galleries, shops, restaurants, nonprofits, and more open their doors for the evening, and there is something to enjoy on every block.

October 6 & 7 welcomes the 30th Anniversary of the 2nd Street Festival. One of the Mid-Atlantic's largest street festivals, it draws thousands to the historically significant Jackson Ward neighborhood. A variety of musical performances will be presented throughout the day on multiple stages, along with food, crafts, and hands-on art activities. Venture Richmond Events will provide FREE guided walking tours led by Gary Flowers, who has a four-generation family connection to Historic Jackson Ward. The Community Cubes project, sponsored by Art on Wheels, will showcase how our everyday living is an individual as well as a shared experience.  

Don't forget to get on the bus!  The new GRTC Pulse, travels the heart of Richmond on Broad Street and services the Arts and Cultural District.  The Pulse provides access to a multitude of arts and cultural experiences throughout Richmond.  Enjoy downtown without the hassle of parking!
