artoberVA Four Focus Areas

artoberVA increases participation in arts and culture events in the region, and expands the exposure of the many organizations, venues, and artists that make-up our vibrant, creative scene.

artoberVA also supports CultureWorks belief that arts and culture should be approachable and accessible to everyone, by focusing on four main areas:

Art in New Locations
Such as our partnership with Better Housing Coalition to provide interactive experiences in areas that are often underserved by arts and culture opportunities. Three different community-art experiences will happen during the month, engaging and connecting with all populations in the region.

Pop-Ups
Be on the look out for art and culture happening in unexpected places, such as The Battersea Foundation hosting a Plein Air Painting Event on their grounds October 13th.

Collaborations
We love when traditional and non-traditional partners working together to make great things happen, such as the Virginia Museum of History & Culture's collaboration with 10 Virginia artists - "Fresh Paint: Murals Inspired by the Story of Virginia," features murals inspired by objects from their collection. Exhibition opening day October 27th.

Family Friendly
Families that engage in arts and culture experiences together are richer for it. Like the Annual Family Arts Day presented by the Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond on October 7th. It’s an art-centered family day featuring activity tables, art projects, food, performances and more!

Explore, engage and be inspired by hundreds of events and artists.
