Second Weekend of #artoberVA Recap!
The second week of #artoberVA was definitely a busy one! There were arts and culture events happening all over our region. Did you have the chance to Dig In? If not, here’s a recap!
The Richmond Folk Festival, Richmond’s largest festival of arts and culture, happened over the weekend. (Don’t forget to cross off “Attend a Festival” on your #artoberVA Bingo Card if you visited the Fest!) The entire weekend on the Island was filled with talented musical performances, local vendors, and a chance to connect with friends, old and new, over music, art, and cultural experiences.

Although the weather was gloomy, the energy of the crowd was bright and vibrant! It was a great time to celebrate arts and culture within our community.
Our friends in the Tri-Cities also got a taste of artoberVA with the Latinx focused Friday for the Arts hosted by the Petersburg Area Art League (PAAL)! In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Friday for the Arts showcased art and artifacts from different Central and South American regions including Dia de los Muertos decorations and costumes.
Save the date for Oct. 31st as PAAL will be hosting the Day of the Dead celebration.
The Richmond Night Market also happened this weekend on Saturday in Shockoe Bottom. Every Second Saturday, the Richmond Night Market takes over the 17th Street Market space, bringing local artists, makers, and creators together to display and sell their diverse works. We had a great time seeing Shockoe Bottom so alive with arts and culture!
