Artists and arts and culture professionals across the region are invited to join CultureWorks on Thursday, October 30th from 8:30a to 1:00p at Studio Two Three for the first artoberVA Arts and Culture Summit!
Attendees can expect opportunities to connect and network with peers, educational resources shared by industry experts, and more.
While the full lineup will be shared soon, CultureWorks is excited to welcome Pam Breaux, President and CEO of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) for a virtual presentation on Effective Messaging for Arts Advocacy as one of the featured sessions.
The Richmond Night Market launches Beyond the Market
Beyond the Market is a three-part professional development workshop series designed to equip Richmond’s artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs with the tools to thrive in business.
Each two-hour evening session, hosted at The Len, will welcome up to 20 participants for hands-on learning in the core areas of creative business success: Marketing & Brand Strategy for Artists, Merchandising & Product Presentation, and Financial Foundations for Creative Entrepreneurs.
The series will kick off Thursday, September 25th with a workshop led by designer, strategist, and community builder Shannon Bass, who will guide artists and makers through practical strategies for developing authentic marketing approaches and building strong, sustainable brands.
Beyond the Market workshops are free to attend but require registration, as space is limited to 20 participants per session.

James River Short Film Showcase Accepting Submissions
James River Short Film Showcase is a mini-festival devoted to the short. The centerpiece is an international juried competition for short films (20 minutes or less) from around the globe that best embody what the James River Film Society and James River Film Festival are all about – the art of film and film as art. Dating to 1994, the competition is open to the experimental, animated, short narrative, and documentary films of 20 minutes or less.
